Homemade instant oatmeal packets are some of my favorite quick and cheap breakfast options. They cost very little to make and the kids love them! They are hardier than anything you can buy at the store, cost way less to make and are better for you.

Oatmeal Packet Assembly Line

I always make them as an assembly line. I take a box of sandwich baggies and fold them out so they stand up on the table. Then I fill all of them with the oatmeal, then the sugar, and on down the line one at a time. Then I seal and label them all. Don’t be afraid to double the packets for big kids and dads.

Variations of the Oatmeal Packets

The basic packet is very tasty and even that can some variations like using maple flakes instead of brown sugar (this is my favorite).

Add ½ Tbs store bought or homemade dried fruit powder, and chopped dry fruit if wanted

Apple Cinnamon

Add 2 Tbs of dried apples and ¼ tsp cinnamon (or apple pie spice)
